Celebrating French language in Namibia !

JPEGThe Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) will celebrate the Francophonie in Namibia from the 22nd to the 24th of March.
The Francophonie is a community revolving around the French language, shared by 275 million people worldwide, including 100 million in Africa. Throughout the week of the 22nd of March, the Francophonie will be celebrated at the FNCC and will serve to highlight the values it embraces through different activities, by bringing together different communities, around a shared common language, based on the values of diversity, peace, justice, security, solidarity, democracy and human rights. This approach naturally resonates with the FNCC motto - "Together for Cultural Diversity".

Special cinema screenings for the youth as well as for adults will depict different realities of the Francophone world. A poetry evening will be held aimed at giving a platform to both budding and established poets to participate in an open-mic poetry evening, around the theme Africa(s). We welcome you to share poems of your favorite author or to read your own, or just to come listen and enjoy an evening of poetry!

The main event of the Francophonie celebrations will take place on the 24th of March. In the presence of the Ambassador of France, H.E. Jacqueline Bassa-Mazzoni, and her counterparts from French-speaking countries present in Namibia, a diploma ceremony will be held, to award student their DELF-DALF diplomas in French studies, the FNCC being Namibia’s sole center habilitated to deliver those official certifications.

The event will showcase the dynamism of the French language, as it will host children and teenagers from schools all over Windhoek who learn French as a second language. They will showcase their talents in dance, singing, theater, poetry, and many more.

Furthermore, the public can expect culinary specialties from French-speaking countries, fun stalls to learn more about the French language, as well as performances from artists, and join in the fun with an exciting jumping castle and face painting activities!

A bientot ! See you soon to celebrate French language!
