Ceremony of credentials of Ambassador Claire Bodonyi
On 10 August 2017, H.E. Claire BODONYI presented her letter of credence, signed by President Emmanuel Macron, to the President of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Hage Geingob. She is now officially accredited as the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Namibia.
The ceremony took place at the State house, where the Ambassador was welcomed by the Chief of Protocol and the Guard of Honor.
The Namibian military orchestra performed the Marseillaise, the French National Anthem, as the French tricolor flag was being held up on the State House plaza.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, as well as senior State House and government officials.
During a private meeting, H.E. Hage Geingob wished H.E. Claire Bodonyi well in fulfilling her tenure in Namibia and expressed a willingness to further develop the friendly relations between France in Namibia. They discussed areas of cooperation, like the fight against climate change, the development of renewable energies in Namibia, the expansion of our economic relations and the cultural cooperation embodied by the Franco-Namibian Cultural Center.
