Consular visit and Beaujolais nouveau in Swakopmund
On Friday November 22, 2013 Mrs Jacqueline BASSA-MAZZONI, the French Ambassador to Namibia, offered a reception to the French community of Swakopmund and its region, on the occasion of the consular tour, which corresponded this year with the arrival of the Beaujolais nouveau.
This event gathered about thirty people from both French and Francophone communities in the region, the members of the Alliance Française de la Côte, and some representatives of French companies locally present (Areva, Bolloré…).
In her address, the Ambassador welcomed the dynamism of the French companies and contractors, as well as their important role in the development of bilateral relations between France and Namibia. She thanked the members of the Alliance Française who contribute of the promotion and the teaching of French in a region which is widely German and English speaking.
Mrs BASSA-MAZZONI and the Vice-consul also recalled the reforms that have been applied this year about representation of French living abroad and underlined the importance of the election timetable in 2014.
