Defence Attaché (in Luanda) [fr]
Based in Luanda, the non-resident Defence Attaché is responsible for:
. Official relations between the French Armed Forces, the French Defence Ministry and the Directorate of Security and Defence Cooperation of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development with their Namibian counterparts,
. Promoting opportunities for structural or operational cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
Since independence in 1990, Namibia is highly devoted, like France, to the United Nations action in conflict resolution. Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is also taking part on a regular basis on United Nations operations with military contingents, officers and police.
The Franco-Namibian military cooperation was focused on the teaching of French in military settings, and the annual participation of a Namibian student at the African Forum (FICA) of Institut des hautes études de défense nationale (IHEDN).
