Encounter of President François Hollande and President Hage Geingob
The President of the Republic of France, François Hollande, received on November 28th, at the Elysée Palace, the President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Hage GEINGOB, in official visit to France.
The French President welcomed the commitment of his counterpart in the international negotiation on climate change, the early ratification of the Paris Agreement by Namibia and its commitment in favor of energy transition. As part of this encounter, a declaration of intent regarding scientific cooperation in the field of the fight against climate change was signed by Mme Ségolène ROYAL, ministry of Environment, Energy and Sea, with her Namibian counterpart Hon. Pohamba SHIFETA.
The two presidents discussed the opportunities to strengthen the economic relations between France and Namibia, notably highlighting the interest of French companies in the fields of renewable energies, water, agriculture, fishery or transport in Namibia. The two states commonly agreed to enhance their institutional exchanges as well as their vocational training cooperation in the field of tourism. The strengthening of our relations also implies the commitment in favor of culture, with the signing of a declaration of intent on cultural cooperation.
The two presidents also discussed several current international events. President GEINGOB notably confirmed his attendance to the Africa-France summit in Bamako in January 2017.
