Invitation à la Lecture - Autobiographies by Namibian Women

The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre welcomed on Saturday 12 October the last 2013 Invitation à la Lecture, in which the audience focused on the emergence of autobiographies by women as a distinct genre in Namibian literature. This conference which brought together more than eighty people gathered for the first time in Namibia four woman authors, invited to share their experiences and the challenges of writing their life stories.

Thereby were present Libertina Amathila (Making a Difference), Jane Katjavivi (Undisciplined Heart), Ellen Malhila (Price of Freedom), Lydia Shakatange (Walking the Boeing 707) and Beatrice Sandelowsky ( Archaeologically Yours), giving the possibility for the crowd to revisit the last thirty years of Namibian History. Helen Vale, from UNAM, moderated the talk.
