Towards a strengthened technical cooperation between France and Namibia
On the occasion of the visit of Pretoria-based regional internal security attaché, on June 3rd 2015, the Ambassador of France in Namibia, Mrs. Jacqueline Bassa-Mazzoni met Honorable Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration and Lieutenant Sebastian Ndeitunga, Inspector General of the Namibian Police, freshly elected representative for Africa to the Interpol executive committee.
This meeting provided the opportunity to discuss perspectives for the French-Namibian cooperation in the field of security. The support of France has been already significant in the training of airborne and rapid response units.
In addition an executive director of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration attended the 16th IHEDN (Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defense) Forum on the African continent (FICA) held in Paris last May. The forum was dedicated to the management of border areas in which French expertise is recognized and may lead to a technical cooperation at a regional scale.
