Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and the French geological survey BRGM
On the 7th of July at the French Residence, the French Geological Survey BRGM and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry of Namibia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technical Cooperation regarding to Water Resources Exploration and Management.
This agreement takes place whilst Namibia, for the third consecutive year, is in the grip of a severe drought, that compelled the government to declare a state of emergency.
An expert mission of BRGM will come to Namibia soon in order to develop an action plan focused on 4 building blocks :
identification of exploitable aquifers ;
improvement of water resources management ;
local capacity-building ;
development of a drought management plan.
