The Francophonie 2017
The celebration of the Francophonie in Namibia (22-24 march) strengthened the bonds within the French-speaking community in the country.
A great number of activities were offered : movies, games, bazaar, contests, book fair, culinary stalls, danse, songs, all developing on this year’s theme : friendship.
In the presence of several Ambassadors whose countries are members of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) and of the UNESCO representative, the DELF-DALF diplomas were awareded to a selection of students learning French at the FNCC or in Namibian schools. 4 namibian students also received their Master’s degree in education and teaching from the University of Aix-Marseille (ESPE).

Finally, Campus France’s new space (information and course choice for graduate studies in France) was inaugurated in the Franco-Namibian Cultural Center’s building, which will host it from now on.

The French-speaking family was represented in all its diversity thanks to the presence of a great and promising number of Namibians from all origins.
The Francophonie is a gathering awaited by the French-speaking community and henceforth constitutes a key moment within the Embassy’s cultural agenda.
Finally, the role of the FNCC as the entity in charge of the promotion of French has been highlighted by all speakers who insisted on its essentiel role as a conveyer of French in an English-speaking country.
