The Regional Health Advisor (in Pretoria)
The Regional Health Advisor (CRSM) is based in Pretoria, South Africa, and is covering nine Southern African countries including Namibia.
It has primary responsibility to look after the French multilateral investments in the field of health, especially with the Global Fund against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNITAID and GAVI. Since its establishment in 2002, the Global Fund has paid about $232 million to Namibia (including a French contribution of $29 million). The support of UNITAID since its establishment in 2006 amounts to $5 million (including a French contribution of $3 million).
CRSM is defending French positions in the field of health (universal health coverage, international health regulations, ODD...) with the countries national and international bodies in its area. It also makes recommendations or monitors health activities implemented by French operators (AFD, France Expertise, decentralised cooperation) or the European Union. These includes medical academic cooperation and health research.
