UNESCO Juventus Photo Contest
We are excited to announce that UNESCO and Juventus are joining forces to launch an online campaign on the potential and power of football to fight and overcome all forms of discrimination. To support the campaign, we are holding a one month long Photo Contest, launched today on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (6 April).
The campaign aims to mobilise players, supporters, youth, and the general public to share their stories and testimonies around the unifying power of football via social media platforms.
#unescojuventus #WhatColour #MoreThanFootball
Football is one of the most popular sports on the planet. Many of us share memories of playing football with friends in the street or in a field, using jumpers or lines on a wall for goalposts. According to FIFA, 3.2 billion people watched the World Cup finals in Brazil in 2014.
Considering its global reach and its individual appeal, football holds enormous power and potential to bring people of different cultures and countries together.
It has the power and potential to promote more inclusive societies, change social attitudes and overcome discrimination in all its forms.
Are you interested in participating? Are your colleagues, friends, partners, networks sensitive to this topic? Please spread the message! The more testimonies we have, the better we can show the world the power of football for meaningful change!
Participants are invited to send one photo (by email to: WhatColour@unesco.org) along with a testimony (150-200 words) explaining how football promotes and fosters inclusion, unity and tolerance, and overcomes discrimination.
Selected photos will be awarded prizes and feature in a promotional video of the campaign. Photos will be made available to be published at future events organized by UNESCO and Juventus. Contest winners will also win a DSLR Camera (or equivalent) as well as a personalized Juventus shirt.
The deadline for submission is Sunday 6 May 2018 at 11:59 p.m. GMT+1.
