Visit of a French Trade mission to Namibia [fr]
A delegation from the MEDEF International (MEDEF being The French Business Confederation) headed by Mr. Gérard Wolf, chairperson of the MEDEF International Committee for Southern Africa (and also Senior Executive Vice-President of EDF for International Development), stayed in Windhoek from 17 to 19 October 2012.
The delegation consisted in 11 French Businessmen representing several important French companies : Alstom, Bolloré Africa Logistics, Electricité de France (EDF) , Groupe Cahors, Nexans, Saint-Gobain Pont à Mousson, Solaire Direct and VINCI Construction Grands Projets.
This visit, the first ever to Namibia, aimed at establishing a first contact between the MEDEF International and Namibian authorities and businesses and at identifying sectors of common interest where win-win long-term partnerships can be established.
The delegation had meetings with several Namibian authorities : His Excellency Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, Honourable Marco Hausiku, the Deputy-Prime Minister, Honourable Dr. Hage Geingob, Minister of Trade and Industry, and the Deputy-Ministers, respectively of Mines and Energy and of Works and Transport.
In addition to the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the delegation also met with the Namibian business community to evoke possible partnership as well as with French businesspersons established in Namibia.
