Visit of a delegation from the French Senate in Windhoek
A delegation from the French Senate led by Mr. Antoine Lefèvre, Vice-President of the Friendship group France-Southern Africa, and composed of Mrs. Kalliopi Ango Ela and Mrs. Josette Durrieu, visited Namibia on 26-29 September The group had been invited by the National Council of Namibia, the second Chamber of the country. The visit was the occasion to meet its President, M. Asser K. Kapere, as well as the Vice-minister for Foreign Affairs, M. Peya Mushelenga, and the Chiefwhip of the National Assembly, Mr. Peter Katjavivi. The creation of a Franco-Namibian parliamentary association, a visit from Namibian Members of Parliament to France and the possibility of joint trainings were among the themes which were discussed.
The visit was the occasion for the group to meet the French Community of Namibia during a reception at the Residence of the French Ambassador.
