The French Embassy in Namibia went to Otjiwarongo on Tuesday (June 5th) to visit the Imerys Graphite & Carbon’s mine.

The natural graphite mine is located at Okanjande which is about 20km south west of Otjiwarongo, Namibia. The processing, drying, sieving and packaging facilities to produce natural graphite flakes are located at Okorusu which is 60 km north of Otjiwarongo.

The Joint Venture in Namibia forms a core part of Imerys Graphite & Carbon’s growth strategy to increase natural graphite supply capacity.

In 2016, Imerys Graphite Carbon & Gecko Namibia formed a Joint Venture to develop the Namibian Otjiwarongo site, for the production of natural graphite that can be used in different applications, including lithium-ion batteries for electrical vehicles.
