World Music Day in Namibia

For the consecutive nineteenth year, the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre has organised the World Music Day, not only in Windhoek but also in Swakopmound (in cooperation with l’Alliance Française de la Côte), Ongwediva and Keetmanshoop.

Introduced from 1995 in Namibia by the FNCC, this event has once again provided the occasion to celebrate music and arts in general throughout the country. More than fifty bands of music and dance have participated in the 2014 edition, with the support of TOTAL Namibia and Areva.

In Windhoek, two concerts gave for around twenty groups the opportunity to amuse the large local public, first at Palm Tree Park and then at the Warehouse Theatre. Lokua Kanza, world famous singer and musician native from DR Congo, was exceptionally present.
